Resident Software

Quark 6, Illustrator CS2, Photoshop CS2, InDesign CS2 and Freehand MX.

File Formats

.eps or .tiff files are preferred, in any application listed above. When sending .pdf files, please make sure any placed images are high resolution and CMYK to insure print quality. Convert all fonts to outlines BEFORE saving to .pdf. Alternatively, include a folder with all fonts and images. Sorry, No .pub files accepted for printing.

Illustrator and Freehand

  • Allow one-eighth inch bleed to all images that extend past cut marks/die lines.
  • Unique die lines should be set up in Illustrator or Freehand on a separate layer from graphics.
  • Include embedded and/or linked images.
  • Solid Colors should NOT total more than 180%.
  • Include Fonts (for the Mac or Open Type Fonts) or convert text to outlines.

Photoshop

  • Graphics should be saved in CMYK mode.
  • Solid Colors should NOT total more than 180%.
  • Allow one-eighth inch bleed to all images that extend past cut marks/die lines.
  • Image resolution should be 300 ppi at 100% size being used.
  • Save a flatten version for your print file, to avoid font issues.

Quark

  • Placed tiff files must have picture box background set to something other than none.
  • Placed images should be at zero degrees skew or rotation, at 100% size and without mirroring.
  • Any image manipulation should be done before placing image in Quark.
  • Create color fills using picture boxes, not text boxes, to avoid font issues.
  • Include all files for placed images.
  • Include Fonts for the Mac or Open Type Fonts.
  • Convert spot colors to CMYK
  • Allow one-eighth inch bleed to all images that extend past cut marks/die lines.

Fonts

  • Fonts for the Macintosh only, include both parts, screen and postscript.
  • NO True Type fonts. Open Type Fonts will be fine.
  • Converting text to outlines/curves will also help to avoid font problems.

Scanned Images

  • Photos and graphic files should be 300 ppi at 100% size. Line art should be 1200 ppi.
  • Art cannot be smaller than the desired size, and scans will only look as good as art provided

Accepted Media

Additional Details

  • Any necessary alterations to your files will be billed at $60 per hour.
  • Digitalabel cannot be responsible for incorrect output from customer-furnished files.
  • Digitalabel does not return artwork (media) unless requested.

Tolerances

  • Die cutting tolerances plus or minus .0625"
